Cynthia  Strickland was born and raised in New Jersey.  She began her collegiate career at Essex County College and continued her education at Rutgers University before becoming a foster parent and adopting her 2 month old god-daughter.  A mother, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and community activist, Cynthia acknowledges her parents for igniting her passion for community service when she was as young as 9 years old.  Maturing as an instrumental participant in the church’s youth ministry, Cynthia served as a Sunday school teacher and choir director.  Annually, Cynthia organized Vacation Bible School, Youth Ministry fundraisers, and visitations to senior citizen facilities.   An advocate for youth literacy, Cynthia along with her family and other members of the church ministry tutored youth in the community how to read by using fun and educational games.

In 1995, continuing her advocacy for youth literacy, Cynthia began operating Cee Cee’s Personalized Gifts offering wonderful personalized children books to get the youth excited about reading.  After several life events, in 1998, Cynthia realized the importance of financial literacy leading her to venture into real estate and to invest in her first investment property. Over the years, Cynthia used her investment successes and her financial savvy to invest in additional properties and assist her family with opening a family seafood business.

In 2006, Cynthia founded Cee & Learn, a non-profit organization specializing in youth, teen, and young adult literacy, financial education, and self-awareness.

From 2013-2016, Cynthia joined the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Newark, NJ to spread cancer literacy awareness as an Online Chair and Event Leader after losing so many of her family and community partners to cancer.

In 2017, Cynthia became certified as a LiteracyNJ tutor to help adults with reading, writing, speaking English and math.

Cynthia decided to enter the world of pageantry to expand her platform of literacy awareness and held the titles of  "New Jersey State Women American Beauties Plus 2017" and "Ms. Next Level 2018".

In 2019, Cynthia co-authored a book anthology called "Journey To Greatness:17 Thought Leaders Share Their Success Strategies for Living Your Best Life". The book reached the Best Sellers rank in Amazon in Women and Business!

In 2020, She traveled to Africa and donated books and school supplies to villages in Ghana and Sierra Leone. She obtained her dual citizenship in Sierra Leone and plans to collaborate with local Sierra Leoneans to build a literacy center in the near future.

“Literacy Matters!” is Cynthia’s memorable motto and her passion for educational and financial literacy extends worldwide, hosting seminars and facilitating workshops and volunteering for educational school events and community organizations.

Known as “Cee the book lady” to many, she continues to be a valuable asset to her community, a constant blessing to her church ministry, and a wonderful role model and a mentor to under-served youth.
